Rudy Mumley was a true friend and tireless worker in support of West Liberty State College and Ohio Valley athletics for more than four decades. The 1950 West Liberty alum was a driving force on the hilltop campus during his undergraduate days, serving as Student Council President and Vice-President of the sophomore class. He was also a member of the Drama Club and Varsity Club and was a featured student in Who’s Who in American College and Universities.
After graduation, Mumley began a 34-year career in education as a high school teacher and administrator, retiring as Principal of Buckeye South High School in 1979. Prior to his retirement, Mumley filled numerous leadership positions with the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference and his alma mater, including a stint as President of the WLSC Alumni Association.
Also the recipient of the 1970 WLSC Gold and Black Athletic Awards and the 1976 College President's Award, Mumley was President of the OVAC and Director of the OVAC Charity All-Star Football Game for many years. That event has been renamed the Rudy Mumley OVAC Charity All-Star Football Game in his honor.
