He went on to a notable teaching and coaching career in the Ohio Valley while remaining an active supporter of his alma mater.
After graduating in 1963 with a degree in Business Education and Physical Education and Health, Edge distinguished himself as the founding coach of several high school wrestling programs at various institutions. In six years at Warwood (W.Va.) High School, he led the Viking matmen to two unbeaten seasons and the 1973 OVAC championship. He was named Ohio Eastern District Coach of the Year in 1975 after guiding Wintersville High School to a District title and was honored as the OVAC's "Mr. Mat" in 1979.
As an educator and administrator, Edge served 14 years as a teacher and coach, two years as an assistant principal, one year as an elementary principal, 15 years as a high school principal, and four years as a superintendent of schools. He also served as President of the WLSC Alumni Association and was a member of the Alumni Association Board of Directors, the WLSC Foundation Board of Directors and the Hilltopper Club.
