A trailblazer for women's athletics on the West Liberty campus, Dr. Rhonda Noble remains one of the top female student-athletes in Hilltopper history.
Noble excelled on the volleyball court where she was a 3-time All-WVIAC selection and 3-time WVIAC All-Tournament pick. Volleyball became an official conference sport in 1981 and Noble helped lead West Liberty to the first regular season and tournament championships in league history. In addition to her volleyball exploits, the versatile Noble was a 2-time All-WVIAC honoree as the leading hitter on the Hilltopper softball team and a tower of power in the paint for women's basketball.
After graduation, she returned to the hilltop campus as a teacher and head volleyball coach. A 2-time WVIAC Volleyball Coach of the Year (1987, 1991) with 144 coaching wins under her belt, Dr. Noble also spent seven years as an assistant softball coach before stepping aside to focus on her duties as a Professor in West Liberty's College of Education and Human Performance.
