One of the West Virginia Conference’s top hitters throughout his career, Mark Stacy helped the West Liberty baseball team dominate the WVIAC’s Northern Division during the late 1970s. A native of Steubenville, Ohio, Stacy led the Hilltoppers in hits in 1975, becoming only the second freshman to earn first-team All-WVIAC honors since the first All-WVIAC team was selected in 1963.
Stacy was a three-time All-WVIAC selection and a first-team NAIA All-Area 7 honoree as a junior. Stacy led Coach Jim Watson’s West Liberty squad to four consecutive WVIAC Northern Division titles as well as three straight WVIAC championships and NAIA Area 7 tournament berths.
He helped guide Steubenville Post 33’s American Legion team to six Ohio state titles during a 30-year coaching career and compiled a 302-129 (.701) record in 9 years as the team manager, which included the 2007 state title. Stacy also served as an assistant coach at Steubenville High School for 21 years.
