Ken Harris started every football game at West Liberty from the time he arrived on campus in 1933 to the time he helped lead the Hilltoppers to Coach Joe Bartell's first West Virginia Conference championship in 1936. Harris was a three-time All-WVIAC selection and was a team captain on West Liberty's 1936 conference championship squad, anchoring a rock-ribbed defense that pitched six shutouts and gave up only one touchdown in seven conference games.
Harris' football career was so impressive that he was named to the West Virginia Conference's All-Time All-WVIAC Team when it was selected in 1974 - nearly four decades after Harris had played his final snap on the hilltop.
After graduating from West Liberty in 1937, Harris embarked on a 40-year career in education as a teacher and administrator. He worked for several years as a Deputy Assessor for Marion County after retiring as Marion County's Assistant Superintendent of Schools in 1976.
