    Mark Delbrugge was an All-WVIAC first baseman on a series of outstanding West Liberty baseball teams during the late 1970s. The 4-year letterman and 2-year captain played a key role in leading the Black and Gold to three consecutive WVIAC championships (1976-78).
    Delbrugge capped his career on the diamond with a stellar senior season that saw him earn first-team All-West Virginia Conference honors along with being selected for the WVIAC's prestigious Cal Bailey Sportsmanship Award.
    After graduating from West Liberty, Delbrugge remained in the Ohio Valley as a highly-regarded coach and teacher in the Ohio County school system. Delbrugge was head coach of the outstanding Wheeling Park High School baseball program for more than a decade.
    A staunch supporter of his alma mater who remained very active in the local community, Delbrugge served as President of the Hilltopper Athletic Club for several years. During his tenure, the HAC raised more than $250,000 for athletic scholarships on the hilltop. Delbrugge also served as the PA announcer for multiple West Liberty sports and was Assistant Director of the West Virginia Super Six state football championships in Wheeling from 1994-2000.
