A two-time NAIA All-American and first-team All-WVIAC selection who scored nearly 2,000 points in a spectacular three-year career, Eric Bovaird was one of the most prolific scorers in the history of West Liberty men's basketball.
The Brockway, Pa. native led the Hilltoppers in scoring for three straight years (1993-95), setting all-time school records for single-season (27.9 ppg.) and career (24.2 ppg.) scoring averages. Bovaird averaged a school-record 27.9 ppg. as a junior in 1994 and followed that up with a then-school record 715 points during his senior season to finish with 1,893 career points.
After graduation, Bovaird played professionally overseas for two years before suffering a career-ending injury. Upon his return, he coached high school basketball in South Carolina for several years before returning to the hilltop as an assistant coach. He later had a lengthy run as head coach at NCAA Division II Chaminade.
