WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Liberty University men's golf team is set to compete on the national stage this week as the Hilltoppers travel to Pennsylvania for the 2026 NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Region Championships, scheduled for May 7–9 at Sunnehanna Country Club in Johnstown, Pa.
Hosted by the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, the three-day regional features the top teams and individuals from both the Atlantic and East regions, all vying for a spot in the NCAA Division II National Championships.
West Liberty enters the field as one of 13 teams representing the Atlantic Region, joining a competitive group that includes top-seeded Gannon, along with West Chester, Pitt-Johnstown, Indiana (Pa.), California (Pa.), Charleston, and Wheeling.
The Hilltoppers head into regionals with strong momentum following an impressive showing at the Bedford Springs Invitational.
West Liberty finished tied for second overall with a 36-hole score of +16, missing the team title by just one stroke in a tightly contested field. The Hilltoppers held the lead after day one and remained in contention throughout the final round.
Leading the way was Adam Gill, who captured medalist honors after finishing at 2-under par and winning a playoff. Gill sealed the victory with a clutch par on hole 17, capping off one of the top individual performances of the spring.
Justin Doerr also delivered a standout performance, placing fifth overall at +1, while Ethan Cook (+7) and Carter Stewart (+10) added key scores. Brandon Lawhon (+13) rounded out the lineup as West Liberty showcased its depth.

Coach's Perspective
Head coach Noah Seivertson believes his team is peaking at the right time.
"I'm super excited for these guys. They've worked so hard all year, and to see that pay off the last two tournaments leading to a regional bid is super cool. I've never been big on setting expectations for golf, for it often leads to let downs. However, I think we have a lot of momentum leading up to this event, and I'm excited to see what the guys can do!"
Tournament Format
The regional will be contested over 54 holes, with the top teams and individuals advancing to the NCAA Division II National Championships later this month.
