ROANOKE, W.Va. — The West Liberty University men's golf team sits in third place following Monday's second round of the Mountain East Conference Men's Golf Championship at Stonewall Resort.
The Hilltoppers posted a second-round score of 12-over-par 300 to move to 23-over 599 through 36 holes. West Liberty opened the championship with an 11-over 299 on Sunday and enters Tuesday's final round just four strokes behind second-place Wheeling (+19).
Glenville State leads the team standings at 10-over 586 after rounds of 291 and 295.
Justin Doerr continued to pace the Hilltoppers individually, carding a 2-over 74 on Monday to move to 1-over 145 for the championship. Doerr is tied for third overall and sits just two strokes behind Glenville State's Fermin Perez Santandrea, who leads the field at 1-under 143.
Adam Gill is tied for eighth at 5-over 149. Gill followed his opening-round 75 with a 2-over 74 on Monday. Campbell Koegler who did not play in the opening round posted a 5-over 77 in the second round.
Ethan Cook is one stroke behind his teammates at 6-over 150 following rounds of 75 and 75. Cook sits alone in 10th place heading into Tuesday's final round.
Chatum Courson is tied for 25th at 12-over 156 after carding a 6-over 78 on Monday.
Wheeling is second in the team standings at 19-over 595, while Charleston and Fairmont State are tied for fourth at 34-over 610.
