Charleston, W.Va. – The West Liberty University men's golf team turned in a strong performance Monday during the opening 36 holes of the UC Invitational at Berry Hills Country Club, finishing the day in a tie for 7th place at +24 in a crowded top 10 leaderboard.
Justin Doerr led the way for the Hilltoppers with one of the best rounds of the tournament. After carding a steady 73 (+3) in the morning, Doerr fired a blistering 64 (-6) in the afternoon, vaulting into a tie for 5th place individually at 3-under-par 137.
Adam Gill provided consistency with back-to-back rounds of 72 (+2) to sit at +4 (144), tied for 20th overall. Ethan Cook bounced back in round two with a solid 70 (E) after opening with an 81, while Brandon Lawhon (155, +15) and Tyler Sauric (156, +16) rounded out the West Liberty lineup.
Gannon (+2) holds the team lead through 36 holes, followed by Wilmington (DE) (+13) and Davis & Elkins (+19). The Hilltoppers are just four shots outside the top five heading into Tuesday's final round.
