Hilltopper Golf Squads Travel to Pennsylvania

West Liberty, W.Va. – The West Liberty men's and women's golf teams are both set to compete at tournaments hosted by Mercyhurst on Friday and Saturday. The men will tee off at the 54-hole Mercyhurst Fall Invitational, while the women will compete in the 36-hole Evann Parker Memorial Invitational. Both events will be held at the Lake View Country Club in North East, Pennsylvania.

WEST LIBERTY MEN'S GOLF STORYLINES
  • Derek Graham will tee off in the number one spot for WLU. He has the lowest round score shot by a Hilltopper this season of 66 at the UC invitational, leading to a season low 54-hole score of 214 as well for himself. He has notched five rounds of even or under par, one round in the 60s, and a stroke average of 75.6 this season.
  • Justin Doerr will play in the number two spot for the Black & Gold. His season low round of 68 and season low 54-hole score of 216 both occurred at the UC Invitational. He has tallied four rounds of even or under par, one round in the 60s, and a stroke average of 75.2 this season.
  • Cao Yixing will play in his second tournament of the season for WLU, teeing off in the number three spot. He has carded a season-low round of 78 (+6) and a low 54-hole score of 242 (+26) at the West Liberty Invitational. He has a stroke average of 80.7 in three rounds played this year.
  • The four spot in the Hilltopper lineup will be Awethu Mkhwanazi who is also playing in his second tournament of the year. He shot a low round of 75 (+3) and a 54-hole score of 230 (+14) at the West Liberty Invitational. He has a stroke average of 76.7 in three rounds played this season.
  • Bo Orecchio will be in the number five spot in the lineup for West Liberty. He has recorded a season low round (69) and 54-hole score (223) at the UC Invitational. He has carded one round of even or under par, one round in the 60s, and a stroke average of 77.0 this season.
WEST LIBERTY WOMEN'S GOLF STORYLINES
  • Erin Shockey has carded a season-low round score of 82 (+10), occurring at this past week's MEC Championship. Her best 36-hole score of the year is 169 (+27) at the UC Invitational. She has a scoring average of 85.7 through seven rounds in three tournaments.
  • Alexis Ramby has also recorded a season-low round of 82 (+11) this year, doing so at the UC Invitational, which led to a season-low 36-hole score of 167 (+25). She has a scoring average of 86.4 through seven rounds in three tournaments.
  • Sara Simon notched a new season-low round of 83 (+11) in the second round of the MEC Championships this past week. She has recorded a season-low 36-hole score of 175 (+33) at the UC Invitational. She has a scoring average of 90.0 through seven rounds and three tournaments.
  • In the third and final round of the MEC Championships on Wednesday, Payton Sherry turned in her lowest round of the year with an 89 (+17). She shot a season-low 36-hole score of 200 (+58) at the UC Invitational. She has a scoring average of 102.6 through seven rounds and three tournaments.
  • Anna Griffith recorded a new season-low round twice at the MEC Championships, first doing so in round one with a score of 106 (+34), and then bested that round by four strokes with a 102 (+30) in the third and final round. Her best 36-hole score of the year is 225 (+83) at the UC Invitational. She has a scoring average of 110.6 through seven rounds and three tournaments.
