WASHINGTON, Pa. – The West Liberty University men's golf team wrapped up competition at the 2026 Vulcan Fire Classic on Tuesday at Lone Pine Country Club, finishing eighth in a competitive NCAA Division II field.
The Hilltoppers posted a two-day total of +34, following rounds of +20 on Monday and +14 in Tuesday's final round.
Gannon claimed the team title at +22, while Malone, Millersville (Pa.), Wheeling, and California (Pa.) tied for second at +25.
West Liberty was paced by a strong finish from Adam Gill, who climbed the leaderboard with a one-under-par performance in the final round. Gill finished tied for fifth overall at +3 (74-71), recording one of the best individual finishes in the tournament.
Justin Doerr also delivered a solid two-day performance, tying for 12th at +6 (73-75), giving the Hilltoppers two golfers inside the top 15.
Ethan Cook added a two-round total of +11 to finish tied for 26th, while Carter Stewart placed tied for 40th at +14. Brandon Lawhon rounded out the team scoring, finishing tied for 49th at +17.
Johannes Chang, competing as an individual, carded a +19 over two rounds.
West Liberty improved by six strokes in the final round, showing progress as the tournament unfolded. Gill's under-par round highlighted the team's ability to compete with the top of the field.
