Easthom Highlights Day One of MEC Championships for Hilltopper Golf

WARREN, Ohio - The West Liberty University men's and women's golf teams completed the opening 18 holes of the Mountain East Conference Championship today. Alex Easthom sits in a tie for first place on the men's side with a first round 71.

The Hilltoppers head into day two in third place and just four shots back of the leader in the men's tournament, while the women are in the middle of the pack in fifth place.

The men scored 12 birdies, tied for the most of any team, led by Noah Seivertson with four. Seivertson shot an 80 and also leads the event in par-5 scoring (4.50). Easthom carded three birdies on way to his one-under opening round. Bo Orecchio is tied for 10th after the first 18 with a 76, while Derek Graham and Brandon Lawhon posted an 81 and 83 respectively.

Claire Kelly turned in an 85 to lead the women's squad in a tie for eighth place overall. Alexis Ramby holed the only birdie of the day for the Hilltoppers on the par-4 hole seven. Erin Shockey shot a 93, Sara Simon 95, and Payton Sherry 140 to round out the West Liberty day one scores.

Day two tees off tomorrow at 8 am for the men and 12 noon for the women.
