CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The West Liberty University men's and women's track & field teams return to action Friday at the UC Golden Eagle Invitational, hosted at UC Stadium at Laidley Field.
The Hilltoppers will compete against a strong field that includes Charleston, Concord, Frostburg State, Glenville State, West Virginia State, West Virginia Wesleyan, and several regional programs, providing another competitive test.
West Liberty enters the meet with momentum following an impressive showing at last weekend's Tim Weaver Invitational, where both squads combined for multiple event wins, personal bests, and standout all-around performances.
On the men's side, Tristin Ohler will look to build on a dominant weekend after sweeping the 100 and 200 meters, while Dominic Gianangeli returns after capturing the 400-meter title. In the distance events, Robert Allen and Shepherd Richey will again be key contributors after claiming victories in the 10,000 and 5,000 meters, respectively.
The Hilltoppers also showed strong depth across the board, particularly in the 800 meters with Francis Toohey and Zachary Workman, and in the field events where Ethan Furbee and George Donovic (high jump) and John Bowen (pole vault) all posted top finishes. West Liberty's sprint relay group will also be one to watch after securing a win in the 4x100 last time out.
For the women, Kaylee Davis headlines the sprint group after a first-place finish in the 200 meters and a runner-up effort in the 100. She will be joined by a talented relay squad that captured the 4x100 title and looks to continue its early success.
In the middle distances, Lacey Dimit and Naomi Young return after a 1-2 finish in the 800 meters, while Marissa Scott leads the hurdle group following her victory in the 100-meter hurdles and runner-up finish in the pole vault.
Ky'Ara Ross will be a key name in the field events after winning the long jump and placing second in the triple jump, while Sierra Davis and Brooklyn Lucas anchor the throwing events after strong performances in the shot put, discus, and javelin.
Friday's meet will feature a full schedule of events, beginning with field competitions at noon and running events starting in the afternoon, highlighted by the 4x100-meter relays at 4 p.m. The meet will conclude with the 4x400-meter relays in the evening.
