Hilltoppers Ninth After Two Rounds at Battle at Brunswick

CALABASH, N.C. — The West Liberty University men's golf team completed the second round of the Larry and Wally Edgell Battle at Brunswick on Friday at Brunswick Plantation & Golf Resort, sitting ninth overall in a competitive 16-team field.

The Hilltoppers posted a second-round team score of +24, bringing their two-day total to +40 heading into Saturday's final round of the tournament hosted by Fairmont State.

West Liberty was led by Ethan Cook, who followed his opening-round performance with a 1-over-par 73 on Friday. Cook sits tied for 10th individually at +5 for the tournament and remains firmly in contention among the event's top golfers.

Justin Doerr is currently tied for 32nd at +9 after carding an 80 in the second round, while Adam Gill sits tied for 47th at +13 following a 77 on Friday.

Brandon Lawhon added an 82 in round two and is tied for 56th at +14, while Carter Stewart rounds out the Hilltopper lineup, sitting tied for 85th at +25 after posting a 90 in the second round.

After two rounds, Charleston leads the tournament at +21, followed by California (Pa.) at +25, while Winston-Salem State and Bluefield State (B) are tied for third at +26.

The Hilltoppers will look to make a move up the leaderboard when the final round tees off Saturday in Calabash, North Carolina.
