West Liberty, W.Va. – The West Liberty University men's golf team is set to open its spring campaign this weekend at the D&E Battle at Brunswick, hosted at Brunswick Plantation & Golf Resort in Calabash, N.C.
Head coach Thadd Obecny has named his lineup for the two-day event, featuring Brogan Bennett, Justin Doerr, Awethu Mkhwanazi, Noah Seivertson, and Jayson Beckner, while Johannes Chang and Eirik Lindholm will compete as independents.
The Hilltoppers enter the spring season with momentum after a strong fall performance, finishing runner-up at the Mountain East Conference (MEC) Fall Classic. Brogan Bennett led the charge, earning medalist honors with a 216 (even par) over two rounds. Justin Doerr (225, +9), Jayson Beckner (227, +11), Noah Seivertson (228, +12), and Awethu Mkhwanazi (228, +12) all turned in solid performances, placing in the top 25.
Following their trip to North Carolina, West Liberty will turn its attention to the MEC Spring Classic, set for March 24-25 at Berry Hills Country Club in Charleston, W.Va.
