Hilltopper Track & Field Set for Final Pre-Conference Tune-Up at SPIRE Indoor Collegiate Games

West Liberty, W.Va. – The West Liberty University men's and women's track & field programs are set for their final tune-up prior to the conference championships as they travel to the SPIRE Indoor Collegiate Games on Saturday, February 10. The action will get underway at 9 a.m. in the running events while the field events start at 10 a.m. for the Hilltoppers at the SPIRE Academy in Geneva, Ohio.

WEST LIBERTY MEN'S TRACK & FIELD STORYLINES
  • The West Liberty men's track & field team has broken four school records this season, including Mikhi Anderson in the 60m hurdles (8.00), Hunter Patterson in the 200m dash (21.88), and Reese Burnside in the pole vault (4.80m (15' 9")). Patterson also tied his school record in the 60m dash (6.88). The team of Patterson, Lorenzo Ferrera, Nathan Baker, and Arthur Williams broke the 4x200 relay record with a time of 1:31.03. Anderson and Burnside's school records in the 60m hurdles and pole vault have also hit NCAA Division II Provisional marks.
  • The Hilltoppers hold two of the top-5 fastest times in the MEC in the 60m dash with Patterson ranking third (6.88) after winning the event at the Ashland Invitational and Ferrera is fifth (6.93).
  • The pair of Patterson and Ferrera also rank second and ninth respectively in the 200m dash with times of 21.88 and 22.34 at the YSU Mid Major Invitational and the Ashland Invitational.
  • In the 800m run, Francis Toohey ranks tenth in the conference with a time of 1:59.35 and Tavian Richardson is 11th after crossing the finish line in 1:59.79 at the YSU Mid Major Invitational.
  • Philip White sits 12th in the MEC's mile run after a time of 4:20.63 at Youngstown last weekend.
  • Robert Allen ranks 14th in the conference in the 5,000m run, posting a time of 15:21.15 this past weekend at the YSU Mid Major Invitational.
  • After re-breaking his school record twice at the Ashland Invitational, Anderson ranks second in the conference and is 18th in NCAA Division II in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.00.
  • The team of Chase Pepper, Richardson, Toohey, and Williams, hold the league's fifth best time in the 4x400 relay after running to a time of 3:29.10 at the Ashland Invitational.
  • In the distance medley relay, the team of White, Williams, Richardson, and Toohey hold down the MEC's third fastest time of 10:24.91 at the YSU Mid Major Invitational.
  • In the high jump, WLU has four athletes tied for the second best mark in the conference as Ethan Furbee, George Donovic, Daminn Cunningham, and Anderson have each completed jumps of 1.92m (6' 3.5").
  • In the pole vault, Burnside continues to hold the top mark in the conference and is 41st in NCAA Division II with a vault of 4.80m (15' 9") to win the Muskie Meet #1. He is joined by Julius Hobbs and Nate Lucas who are fifth and seventh respectively with marks of 4.10m (13' 5.25") and 3.86m (12' 8").
  • Cunningham ranks second in the league with a long jump mark of 7.02m (23' 0.5") at the YSU Icebreaker. Joining him in the top-10 of the league is Gage Patterson who is seventh with a jump of 6.61m (21' 8.25") and Brijaun Baylor who is eighth with a jump of 6.56m (21' 6.25").
  • With a mark of 12.99m (42' 7.5") at the Muskie Meet #3, Cunningham rounds out the league's top-10 performance list in the triple jump in tenth.
  • Joshua Fancher holds the top mark in the league in the shot put with a throw of 15.97m (52' 4.75") at the YSU Mid Major Invitational.
  • In the weight throw a pair of Hilltoppers appear in the top-10 of the conference, led by John Brown who is second with a mark of 16.10m (52' 10") that won the Muskie Meet #1. He's joined by Fancher who is sixth with a throw of 14.44m (47' 4.5") at the YSU Icebreaker. Jordyn Dickerson is just outside the top-10 in 12th with a mark of 13.37m (43' 10.5") at the Muskie Meet #3.
  • Shane Anderson and Jacob Huffman posted top-10 finishes in the heptathlon at the YSU Mid Major Invitational, collecting 3,588 and 2,983 points respectively to rank sixth and seventh in the MEC. Anderson notched six top-10 event finishes in last weekend's meet while Huffman had three.
  • Jason Falvo is in his first season as the head coach at West Liberty and his 15th season as a collegiate head coach in track & field.
WEST LIBERTY WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD STORYLINES
  • The West Liberty women's track & field team has broken four school records this season, which includes Ky'Ara Ross and Sierra Lanham in the long jump (5.53m (18' 1.75")), Lanham again in the 200m dash (26.10), and Brookelyn Reynolds in the 500m run (1:26.50). The team of Lanham, Ross, Abbe Stackpole, and Reynolds broke the 4x200 relay record with a time of 1:49.57.
  • In the 60m dash, Lanham's time of 7.97 at the YSU Mid Major Invitational moves her up to 12th in the conference. She also moved up to 11th in the MEC in the 200m dash after her school record time of 26.10 last weekend in Youngstown.
  • Brookelyn Reynolds holds the fastest time by a Hilltopper this season in the 400m dash, finishing in 1:01.42 at the YSU Mid Major Invitational for the 12th fastest time in the MEC.
  • In the 800m run and the mile, Lacey Dimit is now 15th in the MEC in both events with career-best times of 2:27.82 and 5:33.23 at this last weekend's YSU Mid Major Invitational.
  • After posting a career-best time of 19:51.65 this past weekend, Morgan Lesnansky is now 14th in the conference in the 5,000m run.
  • Marissa Scott breaks into the league's top-10 in the 60m hurdles, ranking tenth overall with a time of 9.48 at the YSU Icebreaker.
  • The team of Dimit, Madelyn Cisar, Bailey Pack, and Reynolds hold the seventh best time in the MEC in the 4x400 relay after running to a time of 4:32.96 in the YSU Icebreaker.
  • Lanham and Ross continue to be tied for the top mark in the MEC with their school record jumps of 5.53m (18' 1.75") in the long jump at the YSU Icebreaker.
  • Kennedy Martin holds the third best mark in the league in the shot put with a season-best throw of 12.31m (40' 4.75") at the Muskie Meet #3. She is joined in the top-10 by Jennifer DiLullo and Sierra Davis who recorded marks of 11.06m (36' 3.5") and 10.86m (35' 7.75") for seventh and ninth in the conference.
  • With a throw of 13.14m (43' 1.5") in the weight throw at the YSU Mid Major Invitational, Davis is now fifth in the league. She is joined in the top-10 by Haley Norris who is sixth with a mark of 13.09m (42' 11.5") at the YSU Icebreaker. Kaylee Savage is just outside the top-10 in 12th on the league's performance list with a throw of 12.13m (39' 9.75") in Youngstown this past weekend.
  • Jason Falvo is in his first season as the head coach at West Liberty and his 15th season as a collegiate head coach in track & field.
