Allen’s Victory Paces West Liberty on Opening Day One of Tim Weaver Invitational

WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Liberty University men's and women's track & field teams opened competition at the Tim Weaver Invitational on Friday with a strong showing highlighted by a victory in the men's 10,000 meters and multiple top finishes in distance and field events.

Robert "Mack" Allen headlined the day with a first-place finish in the men's 10,000 meters, crossing the line in a season-best time of 31:54.84 to claim the title.

The Hilltoppers added another podium finish in the event as freshman Jasper Brown placed third with a personal-best time of 32:39.51, giving West Liberty two of the top three finishers in the race.

On the women's side, freshman Alexis Wynn turned in a strong performance, placing sixth overall in the 10,000 meters with a personal-best time of 42:23.03.

West Liberty continued to make its mark in the field events, particularly in the hammer throw.

Mason Fraley led the men's side with a fifth-place finish and a personal-best mark of 43.99 meters (144' 4").

On the women's side, the Hilltoppers placed three athletes in the top eight of the hammer throw. Sierra Davis paced the group with a sixth-place finish (41.35m), followed by Haley Norris in seventh (39.83m) and Leah Delaney in eighth (38.98m).

Brooklyn Lucas added another highlight for West Liberty in the women's javelin, placing third overall with a throw of 30.53 meters (100' 2").

Competition resumes Saturday with field events beginning at 10 a.m. and running events scheduled to start at noon.

With momentum from several top finishes and a victory already secured, the Hilltoppers will look to build on their strong start as the Tim Weaver Invitational continues.
