BEREA, Ohio – The West Liberty University men's and women's track & field teams closed out the regular season Friday at the Baldwin Wallace Harrison Dillard Twilight, highlighted by a record-setting performance from freshman Naomi Young.
Young turned in a standout effort in the women's 800 meters, clocking a school-record time of 2:17.74 to lead the Hilltoppers on the track. Her performance capped a strong late-season push as West Liberty prepares for postseason competition.
In the field events, the Hilltopper women delivered a pair of top-five finishes in the long jump. Ky'Ara Ross led the way with a runner-up finish, posting a mark of 5.73 meters (18-9¾), while Sierra Lanham placed fourth at 5.38 meters (17-8).
On the distance side, Katie Rutherford competed in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, finishing eighth with a time of 12:54.46.
The men's distance group was active in the 1500 meters, led by freshman Zachary Workman, who broke the four-minute barrier with a time of 3:59.10. Senior Francis Toohey followed closely behind in 4:00.32, with Robert Allen (4:09.09) and Jasper Brown (4:12.15) also turning in solid performances.
Freshman Christian Rutherford added a mark in the men's 800 meters, finishing in 2:00.13, while Gretchen House represented the Hilltoppers in the women's 1500 meters with a time of 5:01.69.
