Jason Falvo was named head coach of the West Liberty University cross country and track & field programs in August 2023 after serving as an assistant with the Hilltoppers’ track & field teams since June 2020.
In his second season as head coach, Falvo guided four Hilltoppers to the NCAA National Championships in 2025. Two outdoor athletes—Isaac Tavo (Discus) and Ky’Ara Ross (Long Jump)—qualified, with Tavo placing fourth to earn All-America honors. During the indoor season, Hunter Patterson (60m) and Ross (Long Jump) also advanced to nationals, where Patterson earned All-America recognition with a seventh-place finish.
Falvo brings over a decade of collegiate coaching experience to the hilltop. A five-time PAC Coach of the Year, he was the founding coach of the NCAA Division III track & field program at Waynesburg University (Pa.), where he led the Yellow Jackets for 12 seasons. He later held head coaching positions at NCAA Division II Clarion University (Pa.) and NCAA Division III Eastern University (Pa.).
During his one season at Eastern, Falvo guided the women's team to the 2020 MAC Indoor Track & Field Championship. He was named both the MAC Women's Indoor Coach of the Year and the USTFCCCA Mid-East Region Coach of the Year.
At Waynesburg, Falvo led the women’s program to three PAC outdoor championships (2013, 2016, 2017) and the 2017 PAC indoor title. He was honored as the 2010 NCAA Division III Mid-East Region Women’s Coach of the Year, developing 28 national qualifiers and five NCAA Division III All-Americans during his tenure.
Under his leadership, Waynesburg athletes earned 145 All-PAC honors, 151 ECAC qualifying marks, and 133 PAC All-Academic selections, while the men’s and women’s teams combined for 14 USTFCCCA All-Academic Team Awards.
A former All-Conference performer in football and track at Juniata College (Pa.), Falvo launched his coaching career as an assistant football coach at Waynesburg while also building the track & field program from the ground up.
He holds USATF Level Two certifications in both sprints/hurdles and endurance. Falvo earned his bachelor’s degree in Education from Waynesburg in 2001, a master’s in Education from Muskingum University (Ohio) in 2003, and a second master’s in Administration and Coaching from Waynesburg in 2017.
