Bridgeport, W.Va. – After averaging a double-double and leading the (RV) West Liberty University men's basketball team to a 2-0 record this week,
John Korte was recognized by the Mountain East Conference on Monday afternoon with MEC Men's Basketball Player of the Week honors, which is presented by The Health Plan. This marks the second conference player of the week accolade for the Hilltoppers in men's basketball this season, and it is the second of Korte's career after he earned the honor once at Wheeling last season.

- Helped lead (RV) West Liberty to a 2-0 week with wins over Frostburg State (90-80) and Fairmont State (85-60).
- He averaged a double-double with 18.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.5 blocks per game while shooting the ball 9-of-16 (56.3%) from the field, 2-of-7 (28.6%) from 3-point range, and 16-of-17 (94.1%) from the free throw line.
- With a game-high 21 points against the Bobcats he reached the 20-point mark for the second time this season and secured his first double-double of the year as he tied a season-high of 12 boards in the win.
- His three assists against Frostburg State marked the third straight game and the 12th time this season he has dished out three or more while he also added a pair of blocked shots for his third multi-block game of the season.
- With 15 points against the Falcons, he has scored double figures in seven consecutive games for WLU.
