BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. - The Mountain East Conference has announced West Liberty's
Cameron Rice as Defensive Player of the Week for his standout performance in the overtime win over Fairmont State on Thursday night.
Rice led the Hilltopper defense which created five turnovers and stopped the Falcons three times in the red-zone with four tackles for loss and a pair of sacks. For the second straight week, he recorded a strip sack and this time teammate
Zach Dixon was right there to pick it up and run it into the endzone to the 'Toppers up 14-0 in the third quarter.
Rice finished the game with seven tackles, five solos and two assists. The four tackle for losses were the most by any MEC player in a game this week.
The MEC Weekly Awards are presented by The Health Plan.
West Liberty hosts Wheeling for Homecoming this Saturday. Kickoff from West Family Stadium is scheduled for 1 pm.
