WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. — West Liberty University head football coach Chad Salisbury officially unveiled his first recruiting class on National Signing Day, as the Hilltoppers added a deep, versatile group of student-athletes built to compete immediately and develop for the future.
The class features a strong blend of high school signees and transfers, with an emphasis on size in the trenches, speed on the perimeter, and versatility across multiple position groups. Salisbury's inaugural class draws heavily from Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Maryland, Ohio, and Florida, reinforcing the program's regional recruiting footprint while adding select national pieces.
"This class reflects what we want West Liberty football to be about — toughness, versatility, and competition at every position," Salisbury said. "We focused on bringing in players who fit our culture, love football, and want to build something special here."
West Liberty added significant depth along the offensive and defensive lines, signing multiple linemen on both sides of the ball. The Hilltoppers also addressed needs at linebacker and edge, while bolstering the secondary with athletic defensive backs capable of playing multiple roles.
Skill positions were another focal point, as Salisbury and his staff signed a talented group of wide receivers, along with playmakers at running back, tight end, and quarterback.
Salisbury also expressed his appreciation for the support behind the scenes that helped make his first signing class possible. He specifically thanked West Liberty University President Dr. Tim Borchers, Director of Athletics Brad Forshey, Strength and Conditioning Coach Dan Hopkins, and the staff in Shaw Hall for their commitment and assistance throughout the recruiting process.
"Putting together a first class like this truly takes a team effort," Salisbury said. "I'm grateful for the leadership, resources, and support that allowed us to hit the ground running and establish a strong foundation for our program."
