BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – West Liberty University women's golf ace
Kailey Pettit was honored Monday as the Mountain East Conference's Player of the Week.
The returning junior All-MEC standout reigned supreme at the Mr. Bee Intercollegiate Tournament over the weekend, pulling away down the stretch to claim a two-shot victory in a field that included several of the top golfers in the conference.
Pettit shot an 18-over-par 162 over the challenging Green Hills Golf Club layout in Ravenswood, W.Va. That was two shots better than tournament runner-up Kiana Toole of West Virginia Wesleyan.
Pettit, Toole and the rest of the MEC will be heading to Avalon Lakes GC in Warren, Ohio next week for the MEC championship tournament.
