4/11/2025 10:00:00 AM

West Liberty, W.Va. - The Mountain East Conference (MEC) has officially announced its 2025 All-Conference teams, and West Liberty Acrobatics & Tumbling continues to make its mark, with three standout Hilltoppers earning well-deserved recognition for their performances this season.

First-Team All-MEC: Kayla Gandy and Abbey Horvath

Senior standout Kayla Gandy has cemented her place among the conference elite, earning her third consecutive First-Team All-MEC selection. Known for her dynamic presence as a top and tumbler, Gandy adds this honor to a growing list of accolades that include the 2024 Aerial Tumbling MEC Championship, 2023 7-Element Acro MEC Championship, and 2023 6-Element Acro MEC Championship. Her consistency, athleticism, and leadership have made her a cornerstone of the Hilltoppers' success.

Joining her on the first team is senior base Abbey Horvath, who has now earned her second First-Team All-MEC nod, alongside two previous second-team selections. Horvath's resume is as impressive in the classroom as it is on the mat—she was named the 2022 MEC Freshman of the Year, is a 2023 MEC Commissioner's Honor Roll honoree, and landed on both the 2024 Academic All-MEC and 2024 NCATA Academic Honor Roll. Athletically, she captured the 2023 7-Element and 6-Element Acro MEC Championships, showcasing her versatility and power.

Second-Team All-MEC: Avery Ray

Senior top and tumbler Avery Ray rounds out West Liberty's all-conference honorees, earning a spot on the Second-Team All-MEC for the second consecutive year. A consistent and reliable performer, Ray also shined in 2023 as a 6-Element Acro MEC Champion and earned academic honors on both the NCATA Academic Honor Roll and MEC Commissioner's Honor Roll in 2023 and 2024.

In addition to the individual honors, West Liberty has qualified in seven events for the 2025 MEC Event Finals, set to take place on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Fairmont State University.
