Kayla Gandy Defends MEC Aerial Tumbling Title

Fairmont, W.Va. – West Liberty University senior Kayla Gandy successfully defended her crown as the Mountain East Conference Aerial Tumbling Champion on Saturday, turning in a stellar performance during the event finals at Fairmont State University.

Gandy scored a 9.650 to claim the top spot for the second consecutive year. Her championship win capped off an impressive week, as she also earned her third straight First-Team All-MEC honor on Thursday. Earlier this season, Gandy set a new program record in aerial tumbling with a score of 9.725.

The Hilltoppers competed in six additional events on Saturday. They finished second in Seven-Element Acro and earned third place in both Five-Element and Six-Element Acro. In the pyramid events, West Liberty placed second in Pyramid Synchronized, fourth in Open Pyramid, and added another second-place finish in Trio Tumbling.
