West Liberty Acrobatics & Tumbling Set for First-Ever Meeting at Bluefield State

3/20/2026 1:00:00 PM

WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Liberty University acrobatics & tumbling team returns to the road Saturday afternoon for a 1 p.m. meet at Bluefield State, marking the first-ever meeting between the two programs.

The Hilltoppers enter the weekend with a 2-6 overall record (2-3 MEC) and are looking to snap a four-meet skid as the regular season begins to wind down.

West Liberty is coming off a tough road test against No. 11 Saint Leo, falling 252.645–227.520.

The Hilltoppers showed strength in several events, posting a 27.55 in the Pyramid event, highlighted by a 9.75 in the Open heat, while also turning in solid performances in tumbling with a 45.350 total.

Freshman Lainey Horvath continued to stand out as one of West Liberty's most versatile performers, competing in nearly every phase of the meet, including all four compulsory heats, multiple acro and toss heats, and two tumbling passes.

West Liberty has shown steady improvement throughout the season, particularly in the Pyramid and Tumbling events.

The Hilltoppers have topped the 225-point mark in three meets this season, including a season-high 235.865 against Canisius, and continue to build depth across all heats.

With postseason competition approaching, consistency in execution will be a key focus as West Liberty looks to carry momentum into the final stretch.

Bluefield State enters Saturday's meet at 0-2 overall in its inaugural season, still seeking its first program victory.

The Big Blue dropped their opening competitions to Wheeling (190.560–112.125) and Glenville State (254.255–112.125), and will be competing on their home floor for the first time this season.

Saturday's meet also serves as Senior Day for Bluefield State.

Saturday presents an opportunity for West Liberty to get back in the win column while continuing to refine routines ahead of the Mountain East Conference Championships next month.

The meet is scheduled for 1 p.m. inside Ned E. Shott Gym in Bluefield, W.Va.
