Kelsey Kyle

Kelsey Kyle is in her seventh season as head coach of the West Liberty University Acrobatics & Tumbling program, where she has continued to build the Hilltoppers into a competitive force within the Mountain East Conference. In 2025, her team earned seven qualifying spots for the MEC Finals, including a standout performance by senior Kayla Gandy, who successfully defended her title as the MEC Aerial Tumbling Champion and set a new program record in the event with a score of 9.725.

Gandy and Abbey Horvath were named First Team All-MEC, while Avery Ray earned Second Team honors.

In addition to her coaching responsibilities, Kyle also serves as Co-Compliance Coordinator for the West Liberty athletic department.

A native of Parsons, West Virginia, Kyle had a decorated collegiate career at Fairmont State University, where she was a First Team All-MEC selection and the 2019 MEC Specialist of the Year after capturing four individual event titles at the MEC Championships. She also earned national recognition as a two-time NCATA National Specialist of the Week, helping lead Fairmont State to a Top 5 national ranking and a berth in the 2019 NCATA National Championships, where the Falcons advanced to the quarterfinals.

Kyle brought with her a strong foundation in coaching, leadership, and community engagement. At Fairmont State, she served as President of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), directed the FSU Summer Day Camp, and was actively involved in volunteer initiatives. Her coaching background includes extensive experience in gymnastics and cheerleading, and she assisted with recruiting under 2019 NCATA National Coach of the Year Kristi Kiefer.

Athletics run deep in Kyle’s family. Her father, Dave Kyle, is a four-time state championship-winning girls’ basketball coach at Tucker County High School, while her mother, Amber Kyle, serves as the school’s cheerleading coach and was named the 2013–14 WVCA High School Cheer Coach of the Year.

A high-achiever in the classroom as well as in competition, Kyle graduated from Fairmont State with a degree in Political Science and a minor in Criminal Justice, earning President’s List honors.
