West Liberty, W.Va. – In preparation for the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships in Indianapolis, several West Liberty University athletes will compete on Friday in the Fastrack Last Chance Meet at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, N.Y.
The Fastrack Last Chance Meet serves as a season-ending indoor competition, providing athletes with an opportunity to qualify for the NCAA championships, fine-tune their performances, or achieve personal records before the outdoor season begins. The meet welcomes competitors from NCAA Divisions I, II, and III, as well as USATF hopefuls.
The Hilltoppers are coming off a strong showing at the Mountain East Conference (MEC) Championships. Hunter Patterson captured the 60-meter dash title with an impressive time of 6.77 seconds, outpacing the competition. He also secured third place in the 200-meter final with a time of 21.46 seconds. Notably, in the 60-meter preliminaries, Patterson clocked an outstanding 6.69 seconds—a new MEC record and the ninth-fastest time in NCAA Division II this season.

Isaac Tavo delivered a standout performance in the shot put, setting a new school record with a winning throw of 16.66 meters.

On the women's side, Ky'Ara Ross shattered three school records at the conference championships. She leaped 5.94 meters to claim the long jump title, a mark that ranks 14th in NCAA Division II. Ross also sprinted to a 7.66-second finish in the 60-meter dash, the 25th-best time in Division II and an NCAA provisional mark. She capped off her record-breaking weekend with a 24.88-second finish in the 200-meter dash, further cementing her place in the program's history.
