West Liberty Track & Field Earns Multiple Titles at Mountaineer Showcase

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Liberty University men's and women's track & field teams turned in a strong showing Friday at the Mountaineer Showcase (College Division), highlighted by multiple event titles and a deep list of podium finishes against a competitive field.

On the men's side, the Hilltoppers were led by a series of first-place performances on the track. Dominick Gagum captured the 110-meter hurdles title (15.79), while Tristin Ohler sprinted to victory in the 200 meters (21.21). In the middle-distance events, Zachary Workman claimed the 800-meter title (1:53.91), and Michael Niggemyer won the 3000-meter steeplechase (10:00.59).

West Liberty added several runner-up finishes, including Reese Burnside in the 110-meter hurdles (16.07), Dominic Gianangeli in the 200 meters (22.06), Harry Kanu in the 400 meters (50.36), Christian Rutherford in the 800 meters (1:58.48), Mason Fraley in the hammer throw (45.89m), John Bowen in the pole vault (3.65m), and Fraley again in the shot put (13.59m).

The Hilltoppers also saw a number of third-place efforts, with Carson Brundige (100m), Malachi Stewart (100m), Gianangeli's teammate Brundige again in the 200m, Francis Toohey in the 400m, Seth Wisman in the discus, Connor Gribble and Liam Vinskovich tying for third in the high jump, Khalon Simmons in both the long jump and triple jump, and Max McCoy in the pole vault.

In the field events, Isaah Beard highlighted the jumps with a first-place finish in the long jump (6.50m), while Reese Burnside added another gold with a win in the pole vault (4.00m).

The women's team matched that success with multiple event wins of their own. Sierra Lanham led the way on the track with a victory in the 200 meters (25.20), while Ky'Ara Ross claimed first in the long jump (5.53m). In the field, Sierra Davis earned a win in the discus (40.07m), and Kiara Kesner topped the podium in the pole vault (2.45m).

West Liberty added several runner-up finishes, including Ross in the 100 meters (12.37), Ally Hicks in the 3000-meter steeplechase (12:18.35), and Gretchen House in the pole vault (2.30m).

Additional top-three performances came from Sierra Lanham (3rd, 100m), Maddie Cisar (3rd, 400m hurdles), Haley Norris (3rd, hammer throw), and Jillian Huffman (3rd, high jump), rounding out a strong day across both track and field events.
