WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Liberty University men's and women's track & field teams delivered a strong showing across two meets on Saturday, highlighted by a pair of record-breaking performances in the women's 800 meters.
At the Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, Francis Toohey turned in a standout performance in the men's 800 meters, clocking a personal-best time of 1:53.47. Toohey's mark stands as his fastest collegiate effort to date in an impressive showing against a deep field.
On the women's side, West Liberty made history in the 800 meters as both Lacey Dimit and Naomi Young rewrote the program record within minutes of each other.
Dimit, a junior, initially broke her own school record with a time of 2:19.03, surpassing her previous mark of 2:20.58 set on April 30, 2024. Just five minutes later, freshman Naomi Young followed with an even faster performance, crossing in 2:18.90 to claim sole possession of the new program record.
At the Mount Union Homon Invitational, the Hilltoppers continued to build momentum with strong efforts in the hurdles events. Marissa Scott led the way with a fourth-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles (15.33), while Madelyn Cisar added a fifth-place showing in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:09.21.
