DANIELS, W.Va. — The West Liberty University men's golf team wrapped up an impressive showing at the 2025 Mountain East Conference Men's Golf Championship on Wednesday, finishing fifth overall at The Resort at Glade Springs in Daniels, W.Va.
The Hilltoppers turned in one of their best rounds of the tournament on the final day, posting a team total of +8 to finish the three-day event at +46. The strong closing effort solidified West Liberty's spot among the top half of the MEC standings in a field that featured all ten conference programs.
Justin Doerr led the Hilltoppers with a steady and consistent performance throughout the week, finishing seventh overall at +5 (74-74-73). Ethan Cook joined him inside the top 10, carding a final-round even-par 72 to finish ninth at +7. Adam Gill also capped the tournament on a high note, matching Cook's 72 to place 13th at +10, while Brandon Lawhon finished tied for 25th at +24 after shooting a 79 in the final round.
Charleston (WV) captured the team title at +25, followed by Glenville State (+28) and Fairmont State (+43). Charleston's Pau Sanchez claimed medalist honors at 3-under par, becoming the only player in the field to finish below par.
The Hilltoppers will wrap up their fall season in the Bluefield Invitational Oct. 19-21 at the Fincastle Golf Course in Bluefield, W.Va.
