Doerr Leads Hilltoppers as West Liberty Climbs on Day Two at MEC Championship

DANIELS, W.Va. — The West Liberty University men's golf team held steady in fifth place after the second round of the 2025 Mountain East Conference Championship on Tuesday at The Resort at Glade Springs.

The Hilltoppers posted a team score of 306 (+16) in the second round, improving on their opening-day total by six strokes to sit at +38 overall heading into Wednesday's final round. Glenville State surged into the top spot at +20, just two shots ahead of Charleston (+22) in a tight race for the team title.

Junior Justin Doerr once again paced West Liberty, carding a 2-over-par 74 for the second straight day. Doerr is currently tied for seventh overall at +4, just five shots off the individual lead held by Point Park's Milo Thim (-1).

Ethan Cook followed with a solid 75 (+3) to move into a tie for 11th place at +7, while Brandon Lawhon matched Doerr with a 74 (+2) and sits at +17 through 36 holes. Adam Gill rounded out the scoring with an 81 (+9) and is tied for 17th overall at +10.

Glenville State's Fermin Perez Santandrea and Charleston's Pau Sanchez are tied for second at even par heading into the championship round.

The MEC Men's Golf Championship concludes Wednesday morning with the final 18 holes at Glade Springs.
