DANIELS, W.Va. – The West Liberty University men's golf team sits in fifth place after Monday's opening round of the 2025 Mountain East Conference Men's Golf Championship at The Resort at Glade Springs, highlighted by top-10 performances from Adam Gill and Justin Doerr.
The Hilltoppers posted a team score of +22 (310) to close the day just three strokes behind fourth-place Fairmont State and within striking distance of the top three heading into Tuesday's second round.
Gill led West Liberty with a 1-over-par 73, finishing the day tied for fifth on the individual leaderboard. Doerr followed closely behind with a 2-over 74, good for a tie for eighth in the 50-player field.
Ethan Cook contributed a 76 (+4), while Brandon Lawhon (87) and Isaac Depew (91) rounded out the Hilltopper lineup.
Wheeling leads the team standings at +9, followed by Charleston (+13) and Glenville State (+19). Charleston's Joan Panisello and Point Park's Milo Thim share the individual lead after matching 2-under-par 70s.
The championship continues Tuesday with the second round of the 54-hole event on the par-72 Glade Springs course.
