Hilltoppers Set for MEC Men’s Golf Championship at Glade Springs

10/5/2025 10:00:00 AM

WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Liberty University men's golf team heads to Daniels, W.Va., this week for one of the highlights of its fall slate, the 2025 Mountain East Conference Men's Golf Championship, October 6-8 at The Resort at Glade Springs.

The three-day, 54-hole event will be contested on the par-72, 7,151-yard layout. Teams will play two rounds of stroke play before the field is cut to the top six teams — plus the top three individuals not on advancing squads — for Wednesday's final round.

Junior Justin Doerr has paced the Hilltoppers this fall with several standout performances. He tied for fourth at the Wheeling Fall Invitational with an even-par 142 and followed that with a career-best 64 (-6) in the second round of the UC Invitational, finishing fourth in a strong 20-team regional field.

Freshman Adam Gill has wasted no time making his mark, carding three straight rounds of 72-72-71 at the UC Invitational to tie for 15th, while also notching a top-25 showing at Hannastown. Brandon Lawhon and Ethan Cook have provided steady scores across multiple tournaments, with Cook firing an even-par 70 at Charleston and Lawhon turning in consistent mid-70s rounds to keep WLU in contention.

The Hilltoppers have shown flashes of their potential in a competitive early-season schedule, and they'll look to bring that consistency to Glade Springs against one of the toughest fields of the year.
