BLUEFIELD, Va. — The West Liberty University men's golf team capped off a strong fall campaign with a third-place finish at the Bluefield State Intercollegiate, hosted at Fincastle Golf Club in Bluefield, Virginia.
The Hilltoppers posted rounds of 297, 290, and 297 for a three-round team total of 884 (+44). Bluefield State won the event with an 859 (+19), followed by the Bluefield State "B" team in second at 875 (+35).
Junior Justin Doerr led the Hilltoppers with a stellar showing, finishing runner-up in the 93-player field. Doerr carded rounds of 72, 68, and 72 for a 2-over-par 212, just two strokes off the individual title.
Adam Gill joined him in the Top 10, firing a final-round 68 to tie for sixth place at 217 (+7). Brandon Lawhon finished T-19 at 224 (+14), followed by Ethan Cook in T-31 at 231 (+21) and Tanner Pelaez in 72nd at 248 (+38).
