WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. — The West Liberty University men's golf team will close its fall schedule when it competes in the Bluefield Invitational Monday and Tuesday, hosted by Bluefield State University at Fincastle Country Club in Bluefield, Virginia. The two-day event will feature a deep regional field of NCAA Division II programs from across the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast regions.
Joining West Liberty in the field are Bluefield State, Fairmont State, Glenville State, Concord, West Virginia Wesleyan, Virginia State, Virginia Union, Fayetteville State, Livingstone, Johnson C. Smith, Ferrum College, WVU Tech, and Bowie State.
The Hilltoppers are coming off an impressive showing at the Mountain East Conference Championship, where they finished fifth overall at The Resort at Glade Springs in Daniels, W.Va. West Liberty saved its best round for last, firing a team total of +8 on the final day to solidify a top-half finish among the ten MEC programs.
Justin Doerr led the way with a strong and consistent effort, placing seventh overall at +5 (74-74-73). Ethan Cook joined him in the top 10 after an even-par 72 in the final round to finish ninth at +7, while Adam Gill closed with a 72 of his own to finish 13th at +10. Brandon Lawhon rounded out the scoring group in a tie for 25th (+24).
