CHARLESTON, W.Va. - The West Liberty University women's golf team opened up the fall schedule at the University of Charleston Golden Eagle Invitational , competing as individuals in the 36-hole event hosted at Berry Hills Country Club in Charleston, West Virginia.
HOW IT HAPPENED:

Graduate student Erin Shockey led the way for the Hilltoppers, finishing in 43rd place and posted a score of 89 (+19) in the opening round

In the second round, Shockey improved her round with an 85 (+15) for a total score of 174 (+34) to round out the tournament

Junior Sara Simon, secured 53rd place overall at the Golden Eagle Invitational

Simon carded a 91 (+21) in the first round and made notable adjustments in her final round, shaving off four strokes to finish with an 87 (+17) and final tally of 178

Newcomer Hannah Shepherd shot a 110 (+40) in the first round, lowered her score to a 108 (+38) in the second round and had a tournament total of 218 (+78)

The Hilltoppers return to action next week when they travel to California the (Pa.) Vulcan Invitational. The event is scheduled for Monday, September 16 at the Cedarbrook Golf Course in Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania.
