New Orleans, La. – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the 2024 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field All-Region recipients on Friday afternoon, which included a trio of West Liberty University athletes receiving honors. Earning All-Atlantic Region accolades for the Hilltoppers included
Mikhi Anderson in the 110m hurdles and the high jump,
Sierra Lanham in the long jump, and
Kennedy Martin in the discus. To receive All-Region honors an athlete must be within the top-5 of their respective events performance list in the region.
Anderson was top-5 in the Atlantic Region with a pair of NCAA Division II provisional marks this outdoor track & field season as he clocked a time of 14.24 to rank third in the 110m hurdles and he cleared a career-best mark of 2.05m (6' 8.75") to rank fourth in the high jump. Both of his previously mentioned marks occurred at the MEC Outdoor Track & Field Championships as he won the title in both events. In the 110m hurdles he recorded eight top-5 finishes with wins at the Tim Weaver Invitational, UC Golden Eagle Invitational, Cherry Blossom Invitational, MEC Outdoor Track & Field Championships, and WVU Last Chance. In the high jump he recorded a pair of top-5 finishes with a win at the MEC Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Nationally he ended the year ranked 37
th and 42
nd in NCAA Division II respectively.
Lanham ranked third in the long jump in the Atlantic Region this year, posting a career-best mark of 5.93m (19' 5.5") to win the MEC Outdoor Track & Field Championship on April 28. Her mark was also a new school-record, MEC meet record, and an NCAA provisional mark. During her sophomore season she has recorded seven top-5 finishes in the event with wins at the Cherry Blossom Invitational, MEC Outdoor Track & Field Championships, and Harrison Dillard Twilight. Additionally, she was named the MEC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week on April 15. Nationally she ended the year ranked 39
th in NCAA Division II.
Martin ranked third in the discus in the Atlantic Region this year, posting a career-best mark of 44.35m (145' 6") at the Mountaineer Twilight on April 20. During her senior campaign she recorded five top-5 finishes in the event with a pair of wins at the John Papa Invitational and Mountaineer Twilight. At the MEC Outdoor Track & Field Championships she finished second with a throw of 42.43m (139' 2"), earning All-MEC Second Team honors. Additionally, she was named the MEC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week on April 22.
