Thomas and McCutcheon Earn All-MEC Honors

Bridgeport, W.Va. – The Mountain East Conference released the 2023-24 women's basketball all-conference teams on Monday afternoon with a pair of West Liberty University athletes gaining recognition for the second time in their careers as Corinne Thomas earned a spot on the All-MEC First Team while Karly McCutcheon was an All-MEC Honorable Mention selection.

Thomas earned All-MEC First Team honors for the second time in her career on Monday afternoon as she closed the regular season by averaging 19.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.9 steals per game while she shot the ball 37.9 percent from the field, 37.0 percent from 3-point range, and 75.8 percent from the free throw line. Ranking third in the MEC and 18th nationally in points per game, she has scored 20 or more points in 13 games, including a pair of 30-point outings. She scored a career-high of 36 points in her final career game inside the ASRC against Concord as she went 6-of-11 from beyond the arc in the contest to lead the Hilltoppers to a 110-103 victory. She leads NCAA Division II with 97 total 3-pointers and 3.46 3-pointers per game as she has connected on multiple shots from beyond the arc in 27 of WLU's 28 contests, including three or more in 20 match-ups. She has also secured double figure rebounds on five occasions for five double-doubles, has dished out four or more assists in ten games, and collected three or more steals in eight games.

The senior became just the second player in program history to reach 1,000 points, grab 400 rebounds, make 250 3-pointers, dish out 200 assists, and collect 100 steals during her career on the hilltop. She also became just the fifth player in program history to knock down 300 shots from beyond the arc in her career.

McCutcheon earned all-conference recognition for the second time in her career as she was named All-MEC Honorable Mention after averaging 14.5 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1.1 steals, and 1.0 block per game while she shot the ball 41.7 percent from the field, 34.0 percent from 3-point range, and 80.3 percent from the free throw line. Ranking seventh in the MEC in points per game, she has scored 20 or more points in five games. She recorded a pair of double-doubles as she reached double figure rebounds on two occasions, and she added nine games of four or more assists, seven games of two or more steals, and seven games of two or more blocked shots. She ranked fifth in the conference with 68 total 3-pointers and 2.43 3-pointers per game, ranking 34th and 42nd nationally in DII. McCutcheon connected on multiple shots from beyond the arc in 20 contests in 2023-24 and made three or more in 11 games.
