GLENVILLE, W.Va. — The West Liberty University women's basketball team delivered its highest-scoring performance of the season Wednesday night but came up short in a 102-95 loss to Glenville State University inside the Waco Center.

West Liberty (8-17, 5-13 MEC) carried a six-point lead into the fourth quarter before the Pioneers (20-4, 14-3 MEC) closed the game on a 28-14 run to secure the conference victory.

The Hilltoppers moved the ball effectively throughout the night, recording 25 assists and scoring 46 points in the paint. However, Glenville State capitalized on 21 West Liberty turnovers, converting them into 37 points. The 95 points marked a season-high for the Hilltoppers.

West Liberty established its presence early by attacking the paint, with Reagan Vinskovich leading the charge. She scored multiple layups in the opening quarter, including a three-point play late in the period. Glenville State answered with perimeter shooting to take a 28-20 lead after one.

The Hilltoppers responded in the second quarter with a 9-0 run to seize momentum. Anna Lucarelli sparked the surge with a strong drive to the basket and assisted on a fast-break three-pointer by Katie Lucarelli to give West Liberty a 29-28 advantage. Vinskovich continued to control the interior, while Olivia Baker knocked down back-to-back three-pointers to extend the lead. Anna Lucarelli beat the halftime buzzer with a layup, sending West Liberty into the locker room ahead 51-48.

The third quarter remained tightly contested, but West Liberty maintained control behind balanced scoring. Jameka Brungard hit a key three-pointer midway through the period to break a tie, and Vinskovich added crucial putbacks and offensive rebounds. Baker capped the quarter with another three-pointer as the Hilltoppers carried an 81-74 lead into the final period.

Glenville State turned the tide in the fourth quarter, using timely outside shooting to erase the deficit. After Vinskovich extended the lead to 83-79 with a pair of free throws early in the quarter, the Pioneers answered with a surge that included a go-ahead three-pointer in the final minute. Anna Lucarelli's jumper with 50 seconds remaining cut the deficit to one, but Glenville State responded from beyond the arc to seal the win.

Vinskovich turned in a career-best performance, pouring in 38 points on 16-of-20 shooting while grabbing 13 rebounds for a dominant double-double. Baker added 20 points, connecting on six three-pointers, while Lucarelli finished with 16 points, 10 assists, and six rebounds. Ana-Isabel Andersson also dished out 10 assists, adding five rebounds and two steals.
