WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – Entering his 10th season as head coach of the West Liberty University women's basketball program, Kyle Cooper will lead the Hilltoppers through a challenging 28-game schedule in 2026-27 that includes participation in the MEC/PSAC Challenge, 14 home games and a 22-game Mountain East Conference slate.
West Liberty opens the season Nov. 13-14 in the annual MEC/PSAC Challenge, taking on Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference opponents California (Pa.) and Edinboro. The Hilltoppers face Cal (Pa.) on the opening day of the event before taking on Edinboro for the second game of the weekend.
The Black and Gold return home for three straight non-conference contests against Seton Hill (Nov. 18), Pitt-Johnstown (Nov. 21) and Ursuline (Nov. 24) before opening Mountain East Conference play against Shawnee State on Dec. 2 inside the ASRC.
The Mountain East Conference enters its first season with 12 women's basketball members following the additions of Point Park and Shawnee State. West Liberty will face each conference opponent twice during the regular season, creating a 22-game league schedule that runs from Dec. 2 through the regular-season finale on Feb. 27.
Conference play begins with home games against Shawnee State, Davis & Elkins and Glenville State before the Hilltoppers close the calendar year with a non-conference road trip to Walsh on Dec. 19. Following the holiday break, West Liberty opens 2027 with road contests at West Virginia Wesleyan and Fairmont State before hosting Frostburg State and Charleston. The Hilltoppers continue conference play throughout January and February before concluding the regular season with home games against West Virginia State and Wheeling.
The 2027 Mountain East Conference Tournament is scheduled to begin March 3.
