WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. — The West Liberty women's basketball team hits the road Wednesday evening for a Mountain East Conference matchup at Glenville State. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. inside the Waco Center.
West Liberty (8-16, 5-12 MEC) enters the contest coming off an 81-68 win over Fairmont State, snapping a brief skid and building momentum down the stretch of conference play. The Hilltoppers will look to carry that confidence into a challenging road environment against the MEC-leading Pioneers (19-4, 13-3).
West Liberty averages 71.4 points per game, ranking fifth in the MEC in scoring, and is second in the conference in three-point field goals made per game (7.8). The Hilltoppers have connected on 187 triples this season, trailing only Glenville State (209) in total made threes.
Ball movement has been a strength for WLU, ranking third in the MEC with 14.5 assists per game. However, rebounding remains a key focus, as the Hilltoppers are being outrebounded by an average of 6.8 boards per contest.
Glenville State leads the MEC in scoring at 87.6 points per game and also paces the league in steals (15.9 per game) and turnover margin (+9.35). The Pioneers force 28.4 turnovers per contest and turn those into 31.5 points per game, creating one of the most aggressive defensive identities in the conference.
Reagan Vinskovich continues to anchor the Hilltoppers inside, averaging 16.8 points and 9.0 rebounds per game while shooting an efficient 52.3 percent from the floor. Anna Lucarelli adds 15.5 points and a team-best 89 assists, while Olivia Baker (13.9 ppg) has been a consistent perimeter threat with 66 made three-pointers.
Ana-Isabel Andersson provides stability at the point, ranking among the conference leaders with 95 assists, while Jameka Brungard adds 8.3 points and 5.0 rebounds per game off the bench.
For Glenville State, Carine Pinkney leads the way at 15.1 points per game while shooting 52.8 percent from the field. Nwando Okigbo (11.3 ppg, 7.5 rpg) and Khalia Bryant (9.9 ppg, 7.0 rpg) control the glass for a Pioneer team that averages 38.3 rebounds per game.
West Liberty is 22-53 all-time against Glenville State. The Pioneers claimed the first meeting this season, defeating the Hilltoppers 100-89 on Jan. 14 in West Liberty.
