Washington, Pa. – The West Liberty University men's golf team opened the day with a first round score of 310 (+22) at the California (PA) Vulcan Fire Classic hosted at the Lone Pine Country Club.
Justin Doerr led the Hilltoppers in the team lineup as he currently sits top-10 in a tie for eighth in the individual standings, as he turned in a three over par score of 75.

HOW IT HAPPENED – WLU MEN'S GOLF
- After opening the day with a bogey on hole seven, Justin Doerr responded right away with a birdie on hole eight. He closed his day with a birdie on hole six, his fourth of the day, as he carded a 75 (+3) to lead the team on the first day of the spring season.
- Awethu Mkhwanazi started the day with a bogey on hole nine and posted a pair of birdies en route to a 77 (+5) as he ended the day with a par on hole eight.
- Derek Graham started the day with a bogey on hole seven and carded a pair of birdies while turning in a 79 (+7) after he hit par to close the day on hole six.
- Bo Orecchio opened the spring season with a par on hole eight and tallied a pair of birdies to post a round one score of 79 (+7).
- Jayson Beckner opened the day with his lone birdie of the day on hole eight before posting a round one total of 86 (+14) to round out the team lineup.
- Noah Seivertson, who played as an individual for the Hilltoppers, started the day with back-to-back pars on holes ten and 11, before using four birdies to turn in a first round score of 78 (+6).

The West Liberty University men's golf team will conclude the opening tournament of the spring season tomorrow with round two of the California (PA) Vulcan Fire Classic. The final round will get underway at 10 a.m. at the Lone Pine Country Club in Washington, Pennsylvania.
