Steubenville, Ohio – The West Liberty University men's golf team currently sits in a tie for fourth place after the first two rounds of the West Liberty Invitational. The Hilltoppers saw a 15 stroke improvement from round one to round two as three players in the team lineup shot an even or under par round to end the day. WLU recorded round scores of 306 (+18) and 291 (+3) on the opening day.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• Justin Doerr leads the nine West Liberty golfers who competed at the Steubenville Country Club on Monday, carding a 146 (+2) through the first 36-holes to sit in a tie for seventh. He opened the day with a 75 (+3) and then followed it with a 71 (-1) to end the day.
• Noah Seivertson, who is playing as an individual, is tied for 11^th on the player leaderboard with a 147 (+3) through two rounds. He scored a 73 (+1), the best round by a WLU player in round one, and then a 74 (+2) in round two.
• The Hilltoppers have four players who are currently tied for 26^th with a score of 152 (+8). Derek Graham shot an 80 (+8) followed by an even 72 in round two. Ethan Cook recorded an 82 (+10) and then saw a 12 stroke improvement to tally the lowest round two score for the Black & Gold at 70 (-2). Bo Orecchio scored a 74 (+2) in round one followed by a 78 (+6) in round two. The final WLU golfer in the tie was Awethu Mkhwanazi who was making his season debut, he started the day by notching a 77 (+5) and ended the day with a 75 (+3).
• Brandon Lawhon rounds out the team lineup by currently sitting in a tie for 38^th on the player leaderboard with a score of 155 (+11). In the morning he shot a 77 (+5) followed by a 78 (+6) in the afternoon.
• The final two individuals for the Hilltoppers are Cao Yixing, who also made his season debut on Monday afternoon, and Jayson Beckner. The pair shot a 161 (+17) and 163 (+19) respectively through 36-holes. Yixing shot an 83 (+11) and 78 (+6) in the opening two rounds while Beckner recorded an 84 (+12) and a 79 (+7) on day one.
