Warren, Ohio – The West Liberty University men's and women's golf teams held steady in the third and final round of the 2023 Mountain East Conference Golf Championships, as the men finished in sixth place overall and the women in fifth after making the final cut. Both teams saw a pair of individuals finish within the top-20 of their respective player leaderboards while the men carded a final round of 315 (+27) and the women turned in a 355 (+67).
HOW IT HAPPENED – WLU MEN'S GOLF
- Justin Doerr carded the lowest round of the day for the West Liberty men's golf team for the second consecutive day, turning in a 76 (+4). Doerr notched one birdie in the round and concluded the tournament in a tie for 14th overall and a score of 233 (+17).
- Derek Graham and Ethan Cook each tallied third round totals of 78 (+6) at the Avalon Lakes Golf Course. Graham collected a team-best three birdies in the final round while Cook earned one. Graham finished the tournament in a tie for 16th overall with a score of 234 (+18) and Cook finished in a tie for 30th with a three round score of 247 (+31).
- Bo Orecchio and Noah Seivertson rounded out the Hilltopper lineup on the final day of the MEC Championships, scoring rounds of 83 (+11) and 85 (+13) respectively. Orecchio and Seivertson each collected one birdie in Wednesday's round, both doing so on the front nine. Orecchio concludes the tournament with a 54-hole score of 241 (+25) and in a tie for 27th on the player leaderboard, while Seivertson leaves Warren, Ohio with a three round score of 248 (+32) and in 32nd overall.

HOW IT HAPPENED – WLU WOMEN'S GOLF
- Alexis Ramby and Erin Shockey led the way on the final day for the West Liberty women's golf team, with third round scores of 84 (+12) and 86 (+14) respectively. Ramby and Shockey each recorded one birdie in the final round at Avalon Lakes Golf Course. Shockey concluded the tournament with a 54-hole score of 255 (+39) for 18th overall while Ramby finished 19th overall with a score of 256 (+40).
- Payton Sherry turned in a new season-low score on the third and final day at the MEC Championships with a score of 89 (+17) on Wednesday. She finished the three day stretch in Warren, Ohio with an overall score of 293 (+77) and 28th on the individual leaderboard.
- Sara Simon and Anna Griffith rounded out the Hilltopper lineup with scores of 96 (+24) and 102 (+30) respectively in the third round. Griffith notched one birdie in the round to help secure a new season-low score, besting her first round total by four strokes. Simon finished the tournament with a 54-hole score of 268 (+52) in 24th overall, while Griffith ended in a tie for 29th with a three round total of 318 (+102).
