BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - Emma Arnal made a run to the singles semifinals as the West Liberty University women's tennis team wrapped up play at the ITA Atlantic Regional Championships this weekend.

Arnal picked up a pair of wins on Saturday to move into the quarterfinals earlier today. Starting with a 6-0, 6-3 win in the round of 32. Battling back from down a set in the round of 16, Arnal posted 6-3 and 10-7 wins to clinch a spot on Sunday.

In the opening set of the quarterfinal match, she bounced back from a 6-0 loss to win a thrilling three-setter. Set two was tied 6-6 and Arnal powered her way to a 7-4 tiebreak victory to force the third set. Then, set three went 10-7 in favor of Arnal.

The number two seed from Charleston downed Arnal in the semifinals 6-3, 6-4.

Evelina Martirosyan swept her Saturday matches in convincing fashion to earn a spot in the quarterfinals. Martirosyan won the round of 32 by a score of 6-1, 6-2 then followed it up with a 6-2, 6-1 round of 16 win.

In today's quarterfinal, Martirosyan lost to the top seed from Indiana University of Pa in a two-set battle, 7-5 and 6-2.

Gemma Cliffe dropped a 6-2, 6-4 matchup to her opponent from Slippery Rock to bow out of the singles bracket in the round of 32 Saturday morning.

In doubles play, Arnal/Cliffe suffered a 6-1 defeat in the quarterfinals to the top duo from Charleston on Saturday.

Next up on the schedule for West Liberty is its home tournament. The Hilltopper Invitational will take place this Friday and Saturday at Washington Park in Washington, Pa.
