BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. - The Mountain East Conference has released the preseason coaches poll for men's and women's golf this afternoon. The Hilltopper men were ranked third and the women sixth by the league's coaches.
Men's golf earned 64 votes coming in just behind Charleston and Davis & Elkins, who were voted first and second respectively. Last season, West Liberty finished in second place at the conference championships with a team score of 920 over the three round event.
Women's golf collected 29 votes placing them ahead of West Virginia Wesleyan, Concord, and Notre Dame.
The season gets underway for both squads over the weekend of September 2-3. The men travel to the Malone Fall Classic in Alliance, Ohio and the women will be at the Falcon Fall Invite in Ravenna, Ohio.
