WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – Dan Monteroso is headed back to Germany for his third season of professional basketball but the former West Liberty University All-American will be wearing a different jersey.
Monteroso played his first two seasons with Ehingen Urspring in the German Pro-A League but has signed to play with a different team in the Pro-A League this year, the Trier Gladiators.
The St. Clairsville, Ohio native is itching to get back on the court after seeing his second season in Germany cut short by injury and is excited about the move to Trier, a West German city of more than 100,000 located just across the border from Luxembourg.
"Two guys they had that were really good, probably their core, moved on so I'm hoping to fill those roles," Monteroso told WTOV-TV9's Rob Metzger in a television interview. "I just want to get in there and start working."

Monteroso was off to a solid start at Ehingen last season, averaging more than 10 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists a game, when he went down with a torn ACL in the seventh game of the season - ironically against Trier.
After returning home for surgery in December, he wasted little time attacking his rehabilitation program with a vengeance.
"(My) rehab is going really well," he said. "May 7th was exactly five months so I'm getting close to six but I actually dunked on May 7th so I'm feeling good."
The German Pro-A League schedule tips off in September.
