KANSAS CITY, Mo. – West Liberty University junior Dalton Bolon was the only repeat first-team selection on Monday when the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) released its nationwide list of All-District awards for the 2019-20 season.
This marks the 15th consecutive season that a Hilltopper basketball player has been selected as an NABC All-District honoree.
It's merely the latest in a growing list of post-season honors for the 6-4 junior guard from Gnadenhutten, Ohio. A first-team NCAA Division II Academic All-American, Bolon was the Mountain East Conference and Atlantic Region Player of the Year and has advanced to the Top 25 Watch List for the Bevo Francis Award recognizing the nation's top small college basketball player.
Bolon averaged 18.5 ppg. and 8.7 rpg. for a Hilltopper squad that won 21 of its last 22 games in rolling to its third straight Mountain East Conference title and followed that up with an MEC Tournament crown. West Liberty finished with a 27-4 mark and was scheduled to co-host the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional before the cancellation of all winter and spring sports championships.
Despite standing just 6-4, Bolon led the Hilltoppers in rebounding 21 times this season and was the team's leading scorer in 11 games. He also dropped in a team-high 84 3-point field goals and led the MEC in foul shooting (101-116, .871) – the best ever for a WLU junior.
Already ranked No. 13 all-time at the school with 1,757 career points, Bolon is also fourth on West Liberty's 3-point field goal list with 282 career bonus bombs. He has started every game for the Black and Gold over the last three seasons, leading the Hilltoppers to an 81-13 (.862) record on the court.
Joining Bolon on the first-team unit are the Indiana (Pa.) tandem of Armoni Foster and Malik Miller along with Shippensburg's Jake Biss, Livingstone's Roger Ray and Terrell Lynch of Virginia Union. Second-team honors went to Shippensburg's John Castello, Winston-Salem State's Robert Colon, Pitt-Johnstown's John Paul Kromka, Brent Pegram of California (Pa.) and Charleston's Drew Rackley.
Joe Lombardi of Indiana (Pa.) was the NABC Atlantic District Coach of the Year.
